The Power of Your Thought-Words
In the beginning was the Word, and the word was with God, and the Word was God.
John 1:1
MOST of our thoughts are words, though they are commonly known and referred to as thoughts. But in the real sense thoughts are words; they are the inner voices of our longing, of what we desperately want, desire or detest. They are the words of a thousand experience, incidence, background, training, trauma, expectation or desire! They are the words of those things that have predominantly dominated our subconscious mind, or what we’ve forced upon our mind. That is why your thought-words are so powerful!
In fact, Sheila Murray Bethel captured it so well when she wrote, “The history books are filled with women and men who have influenced history with their words. They led the fight for causes and issues that have shaped our world today. As children, we all learned the words Patrick Henry spoke before the Virginia Convention Delegates on March 23, 1775. The question was independence from England. The Revolutionary War had begun and Henry said, ‘Is life so dear, or peace so sweet, as to be purchased at the price of chains and slavery? Forbid it! Almighty God! I know not what course others may take, but as for me, give me liberty or give me death!’
The power of an eloquent phrase is immeasurable. When we hear ‘I have a dream’ or ‘Ask not what your country can do for you,’ we know immediately that Martin Luther King, Jr., and President John F. Kennedy spoke these words. They are indelibly etched in history.”
To be honest, you have the ability to determine, to influence and to control certain outcome in life, and not by the barrel of a gun or rocket launcher. Moreover, to wait for a divine being to help you out is just as useless as trying to light up the sky with a touch.
You don’t need any divine being to walk from point A to point B. You don’t need some sort of miracles to take place in your life before you can move your arms around. To do so you need to make conscious effort (engage your will and mind) because you have been given the ability to do so.
The crux of the matter is this: you have been designed to do many things and it cannot be otherwise! If you’re aware of the power you wields as the crown of God’s creation instantly you will refuse to operate within the limited sphere that you have confined yourself or which you have let others confined you into.
But how can we be so blind and ignorant of who we are, of what we can be, do, and become through the skilful use of our words? Don’t be like a drunkard who do nothing but sits and drinks and wait for someone to tell him what to do before he does it. Don’t spend your life that way because if you do, you will always have enough trouble to contend with.
